Toolox 33 – Tool steel and pre-hardened, tempered and cooled machines
29 de July de 2021The range of anti-wear sheet products of Hardox abrasion resistant steel has a global reputation for being hard and resistant, combatting wear under the harshest conditions. Hardox was the first modern anti-wear sheet in the world, launched in 1974.
Characteristics
-A unique combination of high level hardness, high resistance and excellent tenacity.
-Hardox is not only used as wear resistant steel, but also as steel for construction and tool steel
-Full range of products
-The wide range of degrees of hardness from 400 to 650 HB
-Sheet thickness of 0.7 to 160mm
-Different forms: sheets, round bars and pipes
Hardox is only produced by the company SSAB, which focuses exclusively on tempered and annealed steels.
Hardox for extreme resistance to abrasion
Hardox is the brand of anti-wear solutions with the greatest useful load and longest lifespan. The Hardox anti-wear sheet fulfils strict requirements of resistance, constant quality, flatness and surface conditions. Thanks to the ideal combination of constant high level hardness and excellent impact resistance, the Hardox anti-wear sheet is the best material for a wide range of applications: in mining, recycling, transport, quarries, concrete and cement construction and many other areas.
There is only one producer of Hardox sheets: SSAB Hardox has been on the market since 1976 and has been continuously developed to satisfy the needs of clients.
Extreme resistance to wear has always been the key to the success of the Hardox anti-wear sheet. Today, it is harder and more resistant than ever, and can bear great impacts without deformations or permanent cracks.
Hardness and resistance work together
– Hardness is what gives Hardox steel its resistance to wear and its structural strength. The hardness minimises the wear, as it is difficult for the edges of the abrasive material to cut the material. The grades of Hardox offer high resistance to wear throughout the lifespan of the sheet. The hardness also means that it has excellent performance and resistance to traction, properties which maintain a structure in shape, without deformation.
Hardness = Resistance to wear
– Resistance is the other strength of the Hardox anti-wear sheet. When hardness makes it resistant to wear and strong, hardness is what makes it possible to fold, shape and weld the material without it cracking. If a Hardox anti-wear sheet is subjected to greater force than its yield strength and is plastically deformed – on purpose in the workshop or when receiving an impact from a heavy rock on site – it will resist cracking, and if a localised crack occurs, it will resist spreading.
Tenacity = Safety
Although mainly used as an anti-wear sheet, Hardox has been used successfully in the construction of machines and as tool steel. With Hardox steel, structures which are resistant to wear, and strong and light at the same time can be designed. The Hardox anti-wear sheet is increasingly powerful and versatile. New grades and dimensions are introduced regularly. The traditional Hardox® anti-wear sheet has been complemented with pipes and round bars.
A longer lifespan, a greater useful load, lower maintenance costs and exceptional accessibility lead to economic improvement and ensure a competitive advantage.
A longer lifespan, a greater useful load, lower maintenance costs and exceptional accessibility lead to economic improvement and ensure a competitive advantage.
The resistance values for Hardox HiTuf, 450 and 500 are guaranteed minimum values at -40°C, -20°C and 0°C respectively. In comparison with a standard S355 steel, Hardox HiTuf, for example, has permanent resistance to deformation (hardness) approximately three times greater and equal resistance to cracking (tenacity).
Strength, hardness and resistance guaranteed
What level of hardness is right for you? Probably a combination of grades, combatting different wear conditions. A tipper body may have one grade of Hardox on the base and another on the sides to provide a uniform lifespan for the whole body. By calculating the relative lifespan with the SSAB WearCalc software, Hardox Extreme will last over 10 times longer than mild steel under similar wear conditions.
HIGH VERSATILITY
The variety of dimensions means that the Hardox® anti-wear sheet is suitable for a wide range of designs and products. The excellent qualities of the Hardox® flat anti-wear sheet are also available in the form of pipes and round bars.
