Technical characteristics and advantages of different types of steel cutting
Plasma Cutting
Precision and speed up to 40mm thickness.
The procedure consists of creating an electric arc through the tip of the welding torch. The cut is based on the thermal and mechanical action of a jet of gas heated by an electric arc with a continuous current.
Advantages of plasma cutting:
- High definition plasma cutting allows high velocity and good quality cutting in thicknesses of up to 40mm.
- Thanks to the accessory head, we can drill and thread as a machined centre. This is of great use for many types of work.
- Bank of 18,000 x 3,000mm and thicknesses from 4 to 40mm.
Oxy-fuel cutting
Oxy-fuel cutting cuts metallic pieces through local combustion and a continuous presence of a jet of oxygen. In work with oxy-fuel cutting, the material is cut through the heating of the piece.

Advantages of Oxy-fuel cutting:
- Allows cutting materials with very variable ranges of thicknesses. In steel, we cut from 45 up to 260mm.
- Bank 50m long and 4m wide.
Laser Cutting
Precision and detail up to 25mm
The cut is made by a high power laser which concentrates the beam of light on the surface which will be cut. A system of high precision mirrors helps to direct and focus the beam of light.
Advantages of laser cutting:
- Precision and detail: Allows working with complex cutting profiles, and very small curve radii.
- Clean cuts, without rough edges or imperfections.
- The results can largely be reproduced with barely any distortion or areas affected by the heat.
- It offers great versatility: In addition to cutting steel sheets or pipes, the length of the wave of the laser allows cutting of materials such as stainless steel, aluminium, copper and brass.
- Laser cutting machines for pipes and sheets up to 4000 x 2000mm
Saw Cutting
The efficiency of simplicity, robustness and good work:
The cut is made by a serrated metal blade, cutting by continuous contact with cutting fluid on the piece being cut.
Advantages of saw cutting:
- Very effective cuts. Cold cutting is essential in the majority of special steels.
